I suppose it's not helpful to say that I see absolutely everyone's point of view, but every possible side here is valid: that he was not a victim, but a criminal; that it's not our place to judge, but G-d's; that he should not be remembered, if only as a lesson to anyone seeking to emulate him; that he was troubled and did not get the help he needed, and so deserves our compassion. All those things.

Commemorating Adam Lanza in the same way and at the same time as his victims in inappropriate.

One may see Adam Lanza as a victim but that in no way means an equality with those who died as a result of his actions.

Agreed. To commemorate the slayer alongside the slain is just wrong. Lanza may have been dealt a bad hand, and he didn't get the help he needed, but he was sane when he made the decision to murder those children. That being true, to accord him an equality with those he killed would be obscene.

I agree about Adam Lanza. I was commenting to my husband just this morning that people aren't counting his mother among the victims. Over and over one hears about 26 deaths.
The fact that we don't know how many people are actually victims just goes to show how complicated life is.

Too many people are angry about the fact that she had guns where he could get them, when she, of all people, had to know that was a bad idea.

It is possible that she didn't realize it. We'll never know.
Like I said-complicated...
